Prostate Health

The prostate is a small gland in the male body that is a part of the reproductive system and is approximately the size of a walnut, which is located below the bladder and in front of the rectum. As the male ages the prostate can grow larger and since it surrounds the urethra as it enlarges it can cause difficulty in passing urine.

The enlarged prostate is known as benign prostatic hyperplasia and is a common condition, with eight out of every ten men developing an enlarged prostate.  Prostate cancer is a risk that men should be aware of and tested for annually as they age.
