Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedic surgery involves the musculoskeletal system and is a means to treat sports injuries, degenerative diseases, congenital disorders, infections and tumors. This type of surgery includes hand, shoulder, elbow, total joint reconstruction, foot and ankle surgeries.

This is surgery used to treat some commonly known conditions like carpal tunnel, hip replacements, lumbar spinal fusion, low back intervertabral disc surgery, rotator cuff tendon repair and knee replacement.  Orthopedic surgery is a specialty area of medicine, but is practiced by some plastic surgeons and when it is a spinal injury it is practiced by neurosurgeons.
